3rd Intra-CT Football Tournament

 

3rd Intra-CT Football Tournament was organized by the Department of Sports at CT Group of Institutions, Shahpur Campus. 12 Teams participated and the final match was played between CTIT and CTIHS. CTIT team won the match whereas CTIHS team was the Runner-Up.

Fest-o-Media

 

The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, CT Institute of Higher Studies organized its first ever media festival titled ‘Fest-o-Media’ at CT Group of Institutions, Shahpur campus. More than 600 students from 20 colleges and Universities participated in the fest. The Chief Guests for the event were ACP Deepika Singh, Mrs. Seema Soni Renowned Media professional and Mrs. Parminder Kaur Channi, Co-Chairperson CT Group. DAV College Jalandhar bagged the Overall trophy whereas Chandigarh University bagged the Runners-Up Trophy.

INTRAMURAL SPORTS COMPETITION

 

Intramural Sports competition was organised by Department of Humanities, CTIHS. Students of CTIHS participated in various sports activities like 100 meter race, 200 meter race, Sack race and Three leg race. Revered Mr. Harpreet Singh Vice Chairman CT Group of Institutions graced the occasion. Volleyball match was won by the Commerce and Management department. Dr. Kuldip Kaur Grewal, Director of GNDU,Colleges and Principal CTIHS Dr. Seema Arora congratulated the students.

CT Institute of Higher Studies organized a workshop by Yog Path Sansthan (Regd) Jalandhar. President Dr. Vinod Kumar, Ms. Anudeep and Ms. Babita Singh were the members of the Yoga team. Department of Commerce and Management (CTIHS) organized Inter Department Speech Competition on "Post effect of Demonetisation on Indian economy" and "GST". Dr. Seema Arora (Principal CTIHS) and Faculty members graced the occasion.

Department of Humanities, CT Institute of Higher Studies celebrated International Mother Language Day with great zeal. Principal CTIHS Dr. Seema Arora Principal CTIHS, Ms. Saravjit Kaur HOD, Ms. Parwinder Kaur, COD Humanities along with the faculty graced the occasion and encouraged their spirit in an assertive manner. Students of Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, CT Institute of Higher Studies bagged 3 first prizes in Creative Writing Competition organized by Department of Journalism and Mass communication, G.N.D.U Regional Campus Jalandhar on March 7, 2018. Poviet Preet Kaur and Karan Sharma of BA (J&MC)-VI SEM won first prize in Report Writing & Poetry Writing whereas Akash Singh of BA (J&MC) - IV Sem won first prize in Film Story Idea. More than 10 different colleges took part in the event. Creative ideas, command over language and news sense of Students of Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of CTIHS were given a special mention.

Department of Humanities, CTIHS celebrated Women's Day. Different activities and Cultural programs were organized. Basic rights of women with special emphasis on education, social stature and decision making were highlighted through Street Play followed by in-campus Rally by the students of CTIHS along with faculty members. Director Campus Dr. G.S Kalra appreciated the efforts of students. Principal Dr. Seema Arora graced the occasion and congratulated faculty members on ‘International Women’s Day.

Student of Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, CTIHS gets ‘Award of Honour’ in 7th Jat Expo

 

Students of Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, CT Institute of Higher Studies Parambir S. Sandhu, Geetika Sharma & Eeshan Peer participated in 7thJat Expo held on 8-9 febuary, 2018 at village Paragpur. Parambir S. Sandhu student of BA (JMC)-2nd semester was part of organizing committee of 7th Jat Expo kisan Mela. He being the youngest and most creative team member received an ‘Award of honour’ from Minister of local Government, Tourism, Cultural affairs and Museums of Punjab Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu. Geetika Sharma student of BA (JMC)-6Th semester reported the whole event and interacted with Ms. Navjot Kaur Sidhu, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa minister of Rural development and Panchayats, Water supply and Sanitations and P.K Sinha Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar. Eeshan Peer student of BA (JMC)- 2nd semester covered the whole event through his lens, students of BAJMC-6TH semester visited the event and did “Agriculture and animal husbandry reporting and had lifetime experience knowing about various breeds of cows, organic farming, nuts, agricultural equipments and interacted with various self help groups.

Department of Journalism & Mass Communication commemorate World Radio Day

 

The Department of Journalism & Mass Communication of CT Institute of Higher Studies commemorated World Radio Day by organizing an interactive session in the premises of the CT Group of Institutions, Shahpur campus. The session began with floral felicitations of a renowned private FM station headed by Mrs. Seema Soni, Programming Director, accompanied with two Radio Jockeys namely RJ Rajan and RJ Himanshu. Soni conducted the session about voice culture, scriptwriting and qualities of becoming a successful Radio Jockey along with discussing the scope of radio industry in future. She elaborated on the techniques of sound editing, production of jingles and advertisements. The workshop was conducted primarily to understand the different genres of radio and their growing importance in the present scenario. She also traced the history of radio and discussed the growing trend of radio in India especially the private radio channel. Both Radio Jockeys shared their struggle period and the journey in the radio industry and encouraged students to take the line with utmost sincerity and focus.

Interactive session by PM on 'Exam Stress' attended by students of CTIHS

 

Students of CT Institute of Higher Studies attended a live video session with PM Narendra Modi entitled #ParikshaPeCharcha which was related to Exam Stress. As we all know that exams are around the corner and students are nervous and over-burdened with the stress which leads to lack of proper concentration on studies. PM started the conversation with ‘you are not talking to the Prime Minister of India, you are talking to a friend, which created a light and hesitation free environment. In the course of the event which lasted about two hours, the Prime Minister welcomed the questions on various subjects, including nervousness, anxiety, concentration, peer pressure, parents’ expectations, and the role of teachers. His answers were embellished with wit, humour and a number of different illustrative examples.

Interactive session to enhance skills

 

Faculty members of computer applications department of CTIHS under the experienced guidance of Principal Dr. Seema Arora took an initiative to organize an interactive session of students of semester 6 of all departments to develop their communication skills and enhance their confidence level. Students were guided to make effective resume and some important tips to appear and face interview. Department of Commerce and Management, CTIHS laid down the foundation of "Student Development Program" by holding interactive sessions. The idea behind this initiative is to inculcate the #habit of Knowledge sharing amongst the students through the aid of active interactive sessions between students of all batches of commerce and Management Department.The initial effort towards this is made by Sanadh Srivastva, student of BBA Semester IV, who has taken discussion session on Multi-Level Marketing which is organized in two sessions where Dr. Seema Arora (Principal CTIHS) and staff members Department of Commerce and Management graced the occasion.

200th Parkash Utsav of Satguru Sri Ram Singh was celebrated with a great zeal in CTIHS

 

Students shared their thoughts and information about “Kuka Lehar”, Women empowerment and various other contributions of Satguru Shri Ram Singh Ji as social reformist, freedom fighter and religious Guru. Students reflected their homage in the form of speech and poster making. It inculcated a sense of ideology, spiritualism and humanity in young generation. Dr. Kuldeep Kaur Grewal, Director; Dr. Seema Arora PrincipaL,CTIHS and faculty members graced the occasion with their presence. Mr. Nishant Pathak, AP CSE delivered the lecture along with documentary.

Competition at HMV College

 

Two students of CT Institute of Higher Studies and CT Institute of Law have bagged positions in District Level Inter-college competitions of “Essay Writing, Declamation Contest and Poster Making’ on the topic ‘Right to vote – Basis of Democracy’ organized by HMV College, Jalandhar. Lovedeep of B.A (JMC) 4th Semester grabbed second prize while Jasmine of B.A.LLB won third prize in the declamation contest.

Industrial visit at Waves Beverages, Amritsar

 

Students of class BBA 6th semester and B.Com 6th semester of CTIHS were taken for an Industrial visit at Waves Beverages, Amritsar. It was a great experience for the students as they got an exposure to acknowledge the actual functioning of a company. Students learnt various things like processing, production, corporate social responsibilities and how to work as a team. They also got to know about the importance of consumer satisfaction .

Dept. Journalism and Mass communication, CTIHS bags overall trophy at National Media fest Communis-2018

 

Students of Dept. Journalism and Mass communication have won overall trophy at National Media fest “Communis-2018” organised by Doaba College, Jalandhar. Students took part in all the events related to journalism such as news reading, report writing, mobile journalism etc. More than 30 colleges participated in the same, beating them all CT students grabbed the overall trophy.

CT Student presents research paper in Int’l conference

 

Kritika, only student from Punjab, presented paper on ‘Role of Schemes & Programs in Sustainable Development’ Research is the fundamental unit of any evaluation. It needs a voice of many researchers. Kritika Budhiraja, a student of CT Institute of Higher Studies, Jalandhar presented her research paper in an International Conference on Multi-disciplinary Innovations for Sustainability and Growth which was organized recently in an association with MSME, Technology Development Centre, (PPDC), Agra, Government of India Organization, Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises at Kasturi Ram College of Higher Education, Delhi. As many as 150 research papers were received for the conference. Kritika was the only speaker from Punjab and presented her paper on the topic “Role of Schemes and Programs in Sustainable Development”. She evaluated the role of schemes and programs floated by centre government of India for social development. The purpose of this was to gather the challenges of sustainable development in various fields. S. Charanjit S Channi, Chairman, CT Group congratulated her on presenting the paper and motivated her to continue the work of research in the field of interest

Media Festival "Udaan 2017"

 

Department Of Journalism and Mass Communication (CTIHS) has bagged the overall trophy at the Media Festival "Udaan 2017" organized by Chitkara University,Chandigarh. Our students participated with huge zealand zest and brought laurels to the institution by winning first prize> in News Flash, Aditivity, Documentary and second prize in MOJO (Mobile journalism) and Tooncature. More than 25 colleges and universitiewere the part of this Media Festival across North India.

 

 

 

Educational Trip


An Educational trip was organized by CTIHS to ‘Guru Ki Nagari’ Amritsar by the Department of Humanities. Students visited Shri Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) and Jallianwala Bagh. Students were inspired by the teachings of our Gurus and also valued the feeling of patriotism. It was highly informative and enjoyable trip.

 

 

 

 

 

World Girl Child Day


CT Institute of Higher Studies organized Nukkad Natak under the guidance of Dr. Seema Arora, Principal CTIHS to celebrate World Girl Child Day. About 200 students along with faculty members relished the play performed by the students of Dept. of Humanities. Gracious chairman S. Charanjeet Singh Channi and Worthy Director Campus Dr. G.S. Kalra embellished the occasion with their presence and appreciated the efforts of students and Faculty Members.


 

 

 

 

 

Festive Fun


To spark the festival of Karwachouth, an event "Festive Fun" was organized on 6th October, 2017 by CT Institute of Higher Studies under the able guidance and leadership of Dr. Seema Arora, Principal CTIHS. Dr. G. S Kalra Campus Director graced the occasion with his kind presence, the function was a great success. Various events like Mehndi Competition, Nail Art Competition, Thali Decoration, Tattoo Making and Turban Tying Competition were held .Mehndi competition was the star attraction of the day. The great enthusiasm was observed amongst the students. Participation certificates were also given to students as a token of encouragement.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Gandhi Jayanti


CTIHS organized pre-celebration of Gandhi Jayanti with great enthusiasm on 28 September 2017. Ideologies and guidelines given by our Father of Nation were discussed through PPT. More than 200 students from Humanities and Law Department attended the event. Dr. Seema Arora, Principal CTIHS along with faculty members glorified the occasion with highly encouraging and exalting note.

 

 

 

 

 

Shaheed Bhagat Singh's Birth Anniversary


CTIHS celebrated Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s birth anniversary with great zeal on September 28, 2017. Biography of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh along with   his incredible contribution in Indian freedom struggle was presented through Presentation and Videos. More than 200 students attended the event. Principal CTIHS, Dr. Seema Arora along with COD’s and faculty members graced the occasion with highly motivating and inspirational notes.

 

 

 

 

 

Big Bang Quiz


Department of Sciences, CTIHS organised an Inter-department Quiz Contest Titled "Big Bang Quiz 2017" at 1:00 PM in Projection Room on 26th September 2017. Honourable Campus Director Dr. G.S Kalra graced the event as the Chief Guest accompanied by Dr. Seema Arora (Principal, CTIHS). The quiz was organized to test the knowledge of students beyond academics. The quiz comprised of four question rounds broadly based on Current Affairs, General Awareness, Sports and Science & Nature. The B.Sc. Non-Medical students bagged the first position followed by BBA students and BAJMC students securing second and third positions respectively. Audiences too were asked questions and they performed fairly. The enthralling and enthusiastic response of the participants and the audiences made the event a great success.


 

 

 

 

Novato Fiesta- Fresher’s Party


To welcome, the New Members, a gala event “Novato Fiesta” was organized by CT Institute of Higher Studies at Hotel Regent Park. Dr.G.S Kalra Director Campus and Dr. Seema Arora, Principal CTIHS graced the event with their presence. Students experienced entertainment and amusement with their Faculty Members and Seniors. More than 500 gathered at the event. Students performed different activities including Western dance, Bhangra and Solo Musical performances. Gathering tapped their feet on the DJ, marking the most enjoyable part of the party.


 

 

 

 

120th Anniversary of the Battle of S​​​​​​​​​​​​​​aragarhi


CT Institute of Higher Studies acknowledged the 120th Anniversary of The Battle of S​​​​​​​​​​​​​​aragarhi in which 21 Sikhs of the 36th Regiment Sikhs army led by Havaldar Ishar Singh fought to the death against 10,000 Afghans to secure their post under attack. Students were made aware about the importance of 12th September and the bravery of Sikhs regiment with documentary. It was concluded with a two- minute silence for soldiers and their valour.


 

 

 

 

Industrial Visit to Best Price Jalandhar


Department of Commerce & Mgt. of CT Institute of Higher Studies organized an Industrial visit to Best Price Jalandhar on 29 August, 2017 for the students of 5th semester. Principal Dr. Seema Arora, on this occasion, shared that the visit was organized to give students an overview of the professional working environment. She said that in today’s competitive era, it is a prerequisite that students should understand obligations of Economics and Trade. An informative session was taken by Ms. Monika. In this visit students gained information regarding services of Best Price, inventory handling at the back and operation, display and dumping of goods. 

 


 

 

 

 

World Photography Day


Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, CTIHS organized two day Workshop cum Extension lecture on 17th August 2017 & 19th August 2017 respectively. For the first day, Mr. Karamveer Sandhu, Senior Photo Journalist was the resource person and he shared various photography techniques and practical aspects of photography.  Students actively participated and learnt the tricks of creating memories with photographs. On the second day, 19TH August 2017 i.e. World photography day, an exhibition of photographs was held respective to the techniques taught by Mr. Karamveer Sandhu. Dr. Namarta Joshi, HOD of Journalism and Mass Communication, GNDU Ladhewali, along with Dr. G.S. Kalra, Campus Director and Dr. Seema Arora, Principal CTIHS made the overall judgements and selected the best photographs. Muhammad Eeshan of BA (JMC) 1st semester grabbed the first position, Mohit Rai of B.com 5th semester stood second while there was a tie for the third position as Surpriyan of BCA 5TH semester and Kamaldeep B.com 5th semester stood third.


 

 

 

Independence Day Celebrations


Department of Humanities celebrated 71st Independence Day to pay tribute to our Freedom Fighters. More than 100 students participated in the event and they came up with their patriotic songs, speeches, play and poems to create awareness about the Freedom Fighters and Nationalism. The event was a tribute to each Freedom Fighter that fought the battle for our Independence. The Event was graced with the presence of Respected Principal, Dr. Seema Arora and other faculty members of Humanities.

CT Institute of Higher Studies organized Induction day to welcome new buds on 17 July 2017 at Seminar hall of CTIEMT at 10:00 AM. Presentations were shown about the department,Infrastructure,various events, Extension lectures  and  University Laurels. Dr. Seema Arora Principal CTIHS welcomed the new students and conveyed best wishes. 

 

 


Speech Competition on National Voter’s Day

 

To create the awareness about democratic process among the youth, C.T. Institute of Higher Studies celebrated National Voters Day which is observed on 25th January every year. The speech competition was held in the presence of Dr. Seema Arora (Principal, CTIHS), Mr. I.R. Pathak (Vice Principal, CTIHS) and other faculty members. More than 30 students took part in the competition. Dr. Amit, Dr. Palavi and Ms. Monika were the judges for English, Punjabi and Hindi speeches respectively. In English Kritika Budhiraja of BA (JMC) stood first, in Punjabi Rekha of BA grabbed the first position and in Hindi, Rajwinder Kaur of B.com (P) held the first position. All the performances were applauded by the audience. The purpose of organizing the event was successfully fulfilled by analyzing them to understand the importance of the day. The event was well managed.

 

 

 

International Mother Language Day

 

To promote the awareness of Mother Tongue, Humanities Department of CTIHS organized an event “Matribhasha Divas” on 21st February 2017 at Seminar Hall. Event was gracefully witnessed by respected Dr. Seema Arora (Principal), CTIHS. While inaugurating the event, she shared her views with students that Mother Tongue plays tremendously essential role in the education of a child and it is useful for learning quality education. On this occasion various events were conducted – Poetry recitation, Singing and Essay Writing. The great enthusiasm was observed amongst the students.

 


 

 

Science Day Celebration

 

Dept. of Sciences, CTIHS celebrated Science day on Feb. 28, 2017 .Many students of various departments enthusiastically participated in various events. This Science day Celebration has provided an opportunity to the students to come together on a single platform to exchange and enrich their knowledge by participating in various events like working models, Poster making, Fun with Mathematics, Kabaad se Jugaad and Science tricks. The whole event was cherished by Honorable Chairman S. Charanjit Singh Channi and Dr. Seema Arora, Principal CTIHS. The Honorable Chairman Sir appreciated the work done by the students. The event was judged by Dr. Vaneet Thakur (HOD) and Dr. Bhupinder Dept. of Applied Sciences CTIEMT.

 

 

 

 

Industrial Visit

 

The Department of Commerce and Management, CTIHS of CT Group of Institutions visited National Rubber Corporation (NRC) Amritsar on March 2, 2017. Around 60 students of the department along with the Teachers visited the place. The purpose of the visit was to show students the manufacturing and processing of Rubber.

 

 

 

 

Cancer Awareness Rally & Nukkad Natak

 

The students of CT Institute of Higher Studies staged a “Nukkad Natak” on the theme of disastrous effects of Cancer to celebrate National Cancer Awareness Day. The students emphasized on the fact that ‘Prevention is better than cure' and there is a pressing need to spread awareness about the preventive measures to be taken for the control of cancer. Students marched within the campus in a procession, displaying placards inscribed with awareness slogans about the dreadful disease.

 

 


 

Won Gold Medal in Karate Competition

 

Student of CTIHS has been applauded with a State Gold Medal in U-21 category held at Girls Khalsa College, Jalandhar on 15th April 2017. He was selected by Junior KAI (Karate Association of India) Selection 2017. He has won District Gold Medal U-21 held at PAP Stadium, Jalandhar.

INDUCTION PROGRAM

 

The CTIHS organized the Induction Program for the new admits of session 2016-17 on July 18, 2016. The event started with floral welcome of Dr BP Gupta, Principal CTIMS. Dr. BP Gupta delivered a motivational speech during which he emphasized on the power of positive thinking and the pre-planning for coming curriculum and session. The students were given a power point presentation highlighting the different points about the environment and rules and regulations by Dr Seema Arora, Principal CTIHS. The power point presentation was followed by screening of documentaries and short movies by Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. The stage was conducted very well by Ms. Vikrant Rehani, AP, and CTIHS.

 

 

 

 


 

 

 WORKSHOP DIY (DO IT YOURSELF): PHOTOGRAPHY

 

A single photograph can say 1000 words, striding on the path to teach few professional techniques of photography, the departments of Journalism and Mass Communication of CT Institute of Higher Studies organized three days workshop on photography.  The theme of the workshop was DIY (Do it yourself): Photography. More than 100 students attended the workshop. The workshop focused on teaching the students ‘aesthetics and art of composition’ which is an integral part of the pragmatic approach to fundamentals of photography. The workshop had two resource persons. Mr. Surinder Pal (Member, Jalandhar Photography Club) discussed the basic concepts of photography and digital imaging. He shared the techniques about outdoor photography skills and explained the students about understanding the color temperature and its use in photography. He highlighted the working of correct aperture, shutter speed and ISO.

 

 

 

Mr. Kamaljit Singh (Secretary, Jalandhar Photography Club) shared with the students various career opportunities available in the field. He also enlightened them on the ways and methods to improve their photography skills. The interactive workshop drew a very enthusiastic response from the students. He also mentioned about different concepts of lighting. He shared and discussed various professional photographs with the students. Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman, CT Group of Institutions) expressed his gratitude towards media personalities for sharing their salubrious thoughts with the aspiring photographers and journalists. Appreciating the initiative, he said this workshop has exposed the students to the new technologies and techniques in the field of photography.

 

EXHIBITION AND WORKSHOP MARKED THE CELEBRATIONS OF WORLD PHOTOGRAPHY DAY

 

The World Photography Day was celebrated in a grand manner by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of CT Institute of Higher Studies (CTIHS) by organizing a one day workshop on photography at its Shahpur Campus on Friday.


The students after a theoretical introduction to Photography and Lighting in workshop "DIY (Do it yourself): Photography", were given three subjects to theme their pictures; which were Life, Emotion and Creation. The submission of three photographs for any one subject was considered.  The Photographs thus submitted were exhibited and assessed on their gatherings of technical skills and understanding of Photography. The Judge and resource person for the event was Mr. Karamveer Sandhu (Senior Photojournalist).  Geetika Sharma BA JMC-II), Navneet Kaur (B.Sc Non- Medical) and Alisha (BA-JMC-I) won the first, second and third position respectively.


Mr.  Karamveer Sandhu (Senior Photojournalist) interacted with the students. He explained the students about understanding the color temperature and its use in photography. He also shared his experiences on photo journalism. He briefed the students about the pressures to cover a news photo. He had given tips to students and talked to the students about various techniques of photography. He highlighted the working of correct aperture, shutter speed and ISO.

 

 

EXTENSION LECTURE    GST- TECHNICAL IMPLICATION

 

The Commerce and Management Department at C T Institute of Higher Studies organized a guest lecture on 29th September, 2016 for BBA and B.com. The Speaker for the session was Mr. Rajeev Puri, an author of over 30 books, an Associate Professor at D.A.V. College, Jalandhar, with vast teaching Experience. He initiated the talk with upcoming GST Bill and present Tax scenario in India. Further he explained the complexities and technical application of Goods and Services tax. It served as very relevant lecture for the students.

 

 

 

BON JOUR-2016 FRESHER’S PARTY

 

CTIHS organized Welcome Party for more than 500 new students on 24Th September, 2016. The students had a great time singing, dancing and playing games under the vigil of the faculty members.  The fresher’s party ‘Bon Jour 2016’ commenced with a Tilak Ceremony. Bon Jour signified beginning of new journey with hope and aspirations. Dr Seema Arora, Principal CTIHS gave her warm wishes to the students. Kuljeet Kaur & Hardeep Singh of B.com first year were adjudged Ms. Fresher and Mr. Fresher. Students expressed their delight and said that events like this provide platform to students to come forward and exhibit their potential. 

 

 

 

INTER COLLEGE TOURNAMENT-VOLLEYBALL- MEN

 

Men Volleyball Team of CT Institute of Higher Studies Participated in Inter College Volleyball Tournament held at Guru Nanak College, Phagwara on 23 September, 2016.  It is a matter of pleasure that our team won the First round of the match. It is one of the opportunities for the students to excel in the field of sports along with their studies.

 

 

 

WORKSHOP ON INFORMATION SECURITY AND ETHICAL HACKING BY COMPUTER DEPARTMENT

 

A workshop on “Information security and ethical hacking” on 12 Sept, 2016 was organized by Nurture club and Computer Department, which was conducted by APPINS Technology. Mr. Amandeep Singh (Director, APPINS) enlightened students on the following topics:

VISIT TO JAGBANI & PUNJAB KESARI

 

The Nurture Club provided students of Journalism & Mass Communication opportunity to visit the web section and web portal of the Punjab Kesari & Jagbani Group in Jalandhar ON 1ST September, 2016. The Managing Director, Mr. Abhijay Chopra and Naresh Arora, Head of the Punjabi section, showed the organisational structure of the web portal to the students. Mr. Abhijay had an interactive session with the budding Journalists and enlightened them about input, outputs methods of receiving news; workings in green room and the art of interviewing. The staff personals also exhibited to the students the process of telecasting live coverage. The students through this visit were educated about the professional working environment of the news web portals. 

 

FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (FDP)

 

An FDP was conducted on 27th August, 2016 at CTIHS under the patronage of Nurture Club. Healthy discussions were held. Positive questions were asked and well answered by the presenters. The faculty were highly benefited as they groomed their skills and understanding. The sessions were taken by Ms. Vikrant Rehani, Dr. Amit Sharma, Ms. Silvi Dhingra and Dr. Monika Jain.

 

 

QUIZ CONDUCTED

 

The English department along with Nurture Club of CTIHS conducted a quiz on Vocabulary of English language on 2nd September 2016.The quiz was organized for the first year students of the institute with a sole purpose of preparation point of view. The teams were formed out of the first year students only comprising of BA, BBA, BCOM and BSCs. There were eight teams in competition. The winning teams were

  • Team - Wordsworth stood first (B.COM)
  • Coleridge stood second (BA)
  • Shelley stood third (B.COM)

 

 

 

KHALSA COLLEGE, AMRITSAR MEDIA FEST

 

Students of Department of Journalism and Mass Communication won three Trophies at "Media Fest 2016" organised by 'Khalsa College, Amritsar‘on 10th September, 2016.  The Colleges and Universities from across Punjab participated in the festival. The students won positions in 3 events. Lovedeep Singh of BA (J&MC)- I won second position in ' Radio Jockey' competition and moreover, third position in "Extempore". Furthermore, the Choreography performed by Poviet Preet Kaur, Rajinder Kaur, Monika Kalyan, Jasreet Kaur, Divya Luther and Manpreet Kaur; won third position. Also, all the performances by the participants were applauded by judges and given best wishes for future.

 

 

 

NIVESH MANTRA

 

The Nurture Club along with Commerce & Management Department at CTIHS organized a Business Plan Competition titled “Nivesh Mantra” 20th September, 2016. From BBA and B.com Classes around 35 students participated in the competition and presented innovative Business Idea i.e. Wealth Out of Waste, Third Parent, Training and Placement Cell, Textile business Plan, Mobile Restaurent etc. The Session was Chaired by Dr. Seema Arora, Principal CTIHS.


The main aim of this event was to develop an entrepreneurial attitude among students so that they can become Job Creator instead of job seeker.

 

 

 

 

EXTENSION LECTURE ON BASICS OF PROGRAMMING

 

 

An Extension lecture was organized by department of Computer Application on 5 Oct 2016 in order to provide information regarding the basics of programming. In this Extension Lecture 62 students from department of Computer Applications participated to learn the basics of Programming. The resource person for the Extension Lecture was Mr. Sarvesh Chopra (CTIEMT). Students were taught about Programming basics, debugging and principles of OOPS. The main aim of this Extension lecture was to develop the programming skills. The students displayed their interest in the session enthusiastically and with huge zeal and zest.

 

 

 

 

EXTENSION LECTURE ON 'NEWS WRITING TECHNIQUES FOR PRINT MEDIA'

 


Department of Journalism and Mass Communication organized an extension lecture on ‘News Writing Techniques for Print Media’ on 5April, 2016 with Mr Ashok Anuj , Senior Correspondent Dainik Savera and a renowned face of regional print and electronic media as the resource person. Dr. Seema Arora, Principal CTIHS along with faculty members gave a floral welcome to the guest. Mr. Anuj shared his journalistic experiences with the students and inspired those to work with full dedication in the field of journalism .He also discussed the basics of crime and political beat with the students with the mention of his own journalistic experiences in the field.

 

 

 

EXTENSION LECTURE ON BASICS OF PROGRAMMING CONSTRUCTS

 

Department of Computer Applications organized an extension lecture on ‘Basics of Programming Constructs’ on 7April, 2016 with Mr Sarvesh Chopra, Assistant Professor in CSE. He shared basic constructs of programming language in detail with its storage in computer architecture with the students. Despite he shared about OOPS languages, web designing latest trends and how students can perform well in this field. The discussion was followed by an interactive session which turned out to be an informative and knowledgeable for the students.

 

 

 

 

 

ACHIEVEMENT IN THE INTER-COLLEGE DEBATE COMPETITION ORGANISED BY GNDU REGIONAL CAMPUS, LADHEWALI (JALANDHAR).

The students of Journalism and Mass Communication department of CTIHS, Shahpur brought laurels to the institute by securing third position in the Inter-College Debate Competition organised by Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, GNDU Regional Campus, Ladhewali (Jalandhar).  Manpreet kaur Johal and Manpreet Kaur Jass from BAJMC  participated in the debate and expressed their views in favor of and against 'Are we really free in this Country?' and got third position among eight teams from different colleges of the city who participated in the event. The best thing about this competition is the participation of the newly initiated department of Journalism and Mass Communication for the first time in any activity and their position in a competition.
