NSS camp during 26/02/2013 to 04/03/2013 having main agenda “Cancer & Hepatitis”

A seven days NSS camp was organized at CT Institute of Engg. Management & Technology in co-ordination with PTU during 26/02/2013 to 04/03/2013. The main agenda of this camp was “Cancer & Hepatitis” awareness in the villages near by Jalandhar.
More than 300 students have participated in this camp; from CT Group of Institutions and different institutions/colleges of Punjab such as;
Swami Parmananda College of Engg. & Technology (Lalru),
Shaheed Udham Singh College of Engg. & Technology (Tangori),
RIMT Institute of Engg. & Technology (Mandi Gobindgarh),
Rayat Institute of Engg. & Information Technology (Railmajra),
Rayat Bahara College of Engg. & Bio Technology for Women (Mohali),
Continental Group of Institutes (Chandigarh).

All these students were first grouped into 12 different groups of nearly 30 students each and each group; named as “Lala Lajpat Rai”, “S. Kartar Singh Sarabha”, “Swami Vivekananda” Shaheed Udham Singh, Rani Laxmi Bai, etc.
Approximate 15 villages were opted for “Cancer & Hepatitis” awareness were:
Hamiri Khera, Meerapur, Khun Khun, Shahpur, Barsala, Udhopur, Jagral, Partappura, Loharan, Nanakpindi, Channanpur, Bhode Saprai, Kaddian, Jamsher, Phulriwal.
Each group was supported by one teacher NSS volunteer and these groups were sent to villages according to the population of the respective village. All these students were also provided professional training by Dr Jagmeet Bawa from PTU and Dr Surinder Singh from Kheti Virasat, Anandpur Sahib about, how to interact with the people of villages, how can they counsel the people about causes of cancer and hepatitis etc. In this survey all the houses in the respective villages were covered by the NSS teams in support of the relevant sarpanches & other renowned personnel of respective village. The relevant information has also been provided about the giant diseases Cancer, Hepatitis (A, B, C), along with the benefits and process for organic Farming etc.
The daily routine was very well prepared by the host institute for the students, as everyday volunteer started their morning with a PT & light exercise, followed by the breakfast and then departure for awareness program for the villages. They return back by 2:30 PM for lunch break, then subsequent session of 3:30PM to 5:30PM for development of NSS ground, then tea break, and finally cultural activity from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. Despite of this busy schedule all the NSS participants have worked together with full enthusiasm throughout the camp. They have worked for the society nicely and also arranged “Nukkar Naatak” in different villages related to causes of cancer, Hepatitis drug addiction and their preventive measures.


Selection of our students for the 'Rajiv Gandhi Youth Leadership Internship programme'

Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), the premier national training institute for the youth, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India and an lnstitute of National lmportance by an Act of Parliament No.35/2012. exclusively focuses on holistic development of youth of the country through an array of training. As part of its consistent pursuance of the goal of youth empowerment RGNIYD is organising an internship programme 'Rajiv GandhiYouth Leadership Internship Programme (RGYLIP) for the youth all over India. The internship endeavors to expose the youth to a range of branches of knowledge, skills and field experiences and enable them to develop leadership qualities which would result in strengthening their commitment to the task of Nation building. The programme is of one month duration from 15th May to 13th June 2013 at RGNIYD, Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu.
Students from all over the country registered for the same, out of which very few got shortlisted. Among these shortlisted students, 18 students are from various PTU affiliated Institutes out of which 05 students belong lo CT Institute of Engineering, Management & Technology.

STREET PLAY ON “Drug Addiction Awareness” by NSS Volunteers

Students of CT Institutions and various colleges affiliated to Punjab Technical University  visited the nearby village Pholariwal and made the villagers aware by Street Play at Pipal Chowk of village about the destructive effects of drug addiction and told how to prevent such damages under the aegis of seven days NSS Camp on “Hepatitis and Cancer Awareness” organized by CT Institutions in collaboration of Punjab Technical University .  At this occasion the surpanch of the village Mr Suraj Masih, Dr GS Bedi, Incharge of Veternary Hospital, Pholariwal, were present there. Deputy Registrar of PTU Dr. ES Johal were present and directed students to convey health awareness message to villagers in the form of an eye opening Nukkad Natika. Total 309 students participated in this activity and conveyed the message to thousands of the residents of village. The surpanch and many other renowned residents thereafter thanked the organizers, PTU and CT Institutions for this activity of societal interest and highlighted that their village definitely need such kind of activities in order to take corrective measures to protect their people from drug addiction
